Food & Drinks
Dobrudzha is Bulgaria’s breadbasket, and the Black Sea fills the rest of the plate: grilled fish, mussels, garden tomatoes and cold white wine.
Must try
- Black Sea mussels โ steamed in white wine at the marina restaurants
- Grilled turbot & tsatsa โ fresh catch, charcoal-fired on the beach
- Shopska salad โ tomatoes, cucumber, sirene cheese; summer in a bowl
- Banitsa & boza โ the classic Bulgarian breakfast
- Dobrudzha wines โ local cellars around Balchik and Albena
Where to go
The seafront promenade between the port and the palace is lined with taverns (mehana), fish shacks and gelaterias. For a local experience, visit the morning market (Tue/Fri/Sat) for cheese, honey, figs and tomatoes still warm from the garden.
